How much water do my iris need?

New plants need moisture to help their root systems become established.  Watering requirements depend on your climate and soil, but better to "give the ground a good deep dring" at long intervals apart than more frequent shallow waterings.

Bearded iris will not tolerate “wet feet” so to avoid many problems, make sure your plants have good drainage. In wetter climates, plant in raised beds or on a mound to avoid puddles.  Too much water can lead to rot.
